Club Meeting. Guest Speaker: Mark Berger – “If the negative is the score, the print is the performance”. Close off for the Mid Year Salon: Topics: Planes, trains and automobiles and Open
It is almost 6 years to the day that Mark last spoke to the club about his B&W photography. This year, he succeeded in gaining his FPSNZ (fellowship honours level) in colour (!) and will be bringing the full set of the final prints to share with us during his presentation. This is a large body of work that Mark printed in a particular way to let his skills and finesse as a master photographer truly shine.
Building on the title, most of the talk will be related to the steps Mark took to get from his raw images to the finale, i.e. the whole production process through to the final prints, including all the rehearsals through groups like 52 Frames along the way. Practice makes perfect and this holds true for photography just as much as any other art form. He will also talk about how the PSNZ print circles helped him, and will bring along a couple of the catalogs he has built up over time.
